Fox’s Fall 2015 Lineup: Betting Big on Big Names, From ‘Minority Report’ to Frankenstein

By

Fox catapulted to the top of the network heap — in popular perception, at least — during the 2014-15 season with the massive, unprecedented, and wholly deserved success of Empire. The hip-hop-centric soap opera never slowed down and had viewers obsessing over it from beginning to end, with Cookie’s outfits and an endless parade of guest stars taking over our daily conversations. Hoping to keep up the momentum, Fox has just introduced a handful of new series featuring big names who, the network hopes, will have viewers talking all next year. And it isn’t just betting on well-known actors — it’s also investing in well-known characters and franchises.

10 Things We Learned From the Men of ‘Full House’ in Their Scatological Reddit AMA

By

My Big Low-Cal Greek War is upon us: forget the Taliban, forget North Korea — the next true conflict is over Greek yogurt. Yesterday, we reported that Bob Dylan and Chobani have teamed up for the collab you’ve always dreamed of, and now, we’re happy (?) to announce that the Full House guys are reuniting to worship the yogurt company’s creamy arch-nemesis: Oikos. There’s no news yet of a yogurt-off between the world’s-greatest-folk-singer-turned-foodie and the former- guest-star-on-ER-turned-foodie John Stamos. There is, however, this Reddit AMA that John Stamos, Bob Saget, and Dave Coulier participated in last night, in honor of their reunion for Oikos. And, what do you know, we learned some things from it! Sorely missing from this list is news of a future Mary-Kate and Ashley Gogurt endorsement, but a boy can always dream.

10 Highly Informative Celebrity How-To Videos

By

Recently, we discovered a wonderful collaboration between perennial tough-guy Vinnie Jones and The British Heart Foundation, which is airing TV advertisements starring the actor to raise awareness about proper CPR form. The move came after a study showed that nearly 50% of Brits are unsure about what to do if someone has a cardiac arrest, but we think everyone could use a little reminder (no kissing). Inspired by Jones’s video, we’ve collected a series of informative celebrity how-tos and informational videos, whether funny or serious, produced or off the cuff, on everything from dance moves to changing a tire to proper etiquette. Click through to take a look, and by all means, get ready to learn something.

Video of the Day: Uncle Jesse Plays with the Beach Boys

By

No, this isn’t a clip from that episode of Full House where DJ won tickets to a Beach Boys concert everyone in the family tried to bribe her to come along. This is footage from last night’s show at Coney Island, which was part of the free Seaside Summer Concert Series. Click through to watch guest drummer John Stamos play “Little Surfer Girl” with the band — and Mike Love make a crack about needing a nap. (Unfortunately, we couldn’t find video of the joke Love made about bedding Stamos’ mom back in the ’60s.) Uncle Jesse fans take note: He’ll also be joining the Beach Boys at upcoming gigs in Westbury, NY, Baltimore, and Vienna, VA.

Better Know a Musical: Bye Bye Birdie

By

Bye Bye Birdie, the terminally square musical of the ’60s, is having something of a moment here in 2009. This week, Mad Men repurposed Ann-Margret’s shrill opening sequence from the film version. That comes on the heels of Gina Gershon singling out a scene in the upcoming Broadway revival, in which she will star along with John Stamos, as “too gang-rape-y” yesterday. Wow, a Mad Men-approved, gang-rape-y good time! Sounds good, right? Well, don’t get too excited, because Bye Bye Birdie is actually one of the corniest musicals of all time. We have this on good authority, having acted in it in 9th grade (we played Reporter… Read More
