Think New York Fashion Week is all about the Zac Posens and Tory Burches? Eh — wrong. Meet the underdogs, the marvel players who are either new or newer to Lincoln Center, or who have recently broken out with their own lines. Edgy, elegant, and one still a bit of a mystery, this crop of designers is the one to watch in 2013. … Read More

Watch the First Video Shot Entirely by Google Glasses
Just a few days ago, models at Diane Von Furstenberg’s Spring 2013 show at New York Fashion Week made headlines because of a certain accessory that several of them wore as they strutted down the catwalk: prototypes of Google’s high-tech, computerized glasses. Still in the very early stages of development under the name Project Glass, these headband-like pieces function almost like a wearable smartphone, and are expected to be available for retail sometime in 2014. Click through to watch some fascinating point-of-view footage shot by Furstenberg and her team of fashionistas — which marks the first time any video has been filmed entirely through Glass. Incredibly Gorgeous Polaroids of Famous Models Sans Makeup
If watching Ms. Tyra Banks pontificate her way through endless episodes of America’s Next Top Model has taught us anything, it’s that models don’t always photograph the way they look in real life. A girl who turns heads walking down the street can read total plain Jane when juxtaposed with a gorgeous creature who looks like an ugly alien when you see her face to face. But in rare cases, photo and model do match up — even, if you can believe it, when said model isn’t wearing a lick of makeup. These natural beauties are your Chanel Imans. Your Mirnada Kerrs. Heck, even your Cindy Crawfords. In celebration of yesterday’s conclusion of the craziness that was New York Fashion Week, we’ve decided to share some Polaroids snapped over the years by COACD casting director Douglas Perrett, that we spotted over on My Modern Met. Pulled from his personal collection, these images were just released in a limited-edition book called Wild Things that we think would look pretty fetching sitting on your coffee table. Click through our slideshow and see if you agree. … Read More

We’ve known for a while now that the ’90s are back in a big way. But as we followed the new, fall 2011 collections from New York Fashion Week, references to the decade were inescapable: plaid, lace, layers, maxi skirts. They were so ubiquitous, in fact, that many of them conjured images of our favorite grunge-era icons, from Courtney Love and Björk to Kelly Bundy and Rayanne Graff. After the jump, we pair ten looks from Fashion Week with the ’90s stars and characters who were born to wear them. … Read More
Photo Diary: New York Fashion Week
The internet is home to a glut of information on how to fake your way in to New York Fashion Week (seriously, Google it). But for the hundreds who desperately want in there are thousands who don’t understand why this week, or its worldwide counterparts, matter. New York Fashion Week has become an arena housing a spectacle of sartorial gladiators, a place to see and be seen, and a bit of an enigma to those who don’t work within the industry. … Read More
