The new season of Mad Men is underway, the Breaking Bad premiere date is set, so as soon as the new season of Louie gets going, our summer viewing needs will be all taken care — oh hell, that’s right, Louie won’t be back until next spring. His new special has already aired, his promo tour for it is over; how the hell do you get your Louis C.K. fix these days? From YouTube, of course. Strangely, not many people are aware that Louie worked his way up to writing, directing, editing, and starring in Louie with two decades of short and indie film work; a quick tour of his early films offers a tantalizing glimpse at the development of his considerable… Read More

‘Parks and Recreation’ Characters As Comic Book Heroes
Well, here’s an artist after our own heart: LA-based self-described illustrator, printmaker, and “fun-junkie” Vicky Trochez (aka “Vicktrola”) has gone and turned the characters from Parks and Recreation into the comic book heroes of the Justice League. “After doing a quick sketch of Leslie Knope as the Caped Crusader’s side kick,” she explains at the beginning of the online portfolio, “I decided to go all in and transform the rest of the Parks and Recreation cast into the rest of the Justice League.” The results are, to say the least, glorious. Check out Trochez’s full gallery after the jump, and then hop over to her website to buy a print or two (you know you want to). … Read More
Flavorwire’s Guide to Indie Flicks to See in March
It’s been a couple of months since our last indie movie roundup, for the simple reason that it’s not just the majors that save their weakest releases for the first of the year; there wasn’t a whole lot to crow about at the art houses recently either, aside from 2012 holdovers. But as winter becomes spring, we’re starting to see some interesting foreign and indie releases; a quick rundown of our favorites awaits you after the jump. … Read More
10 Sundance 2013 Movies We Can’t Wait to See
Hold on to your hats, dear readers: the 29th annual Sundance Film Festival kicks off today in Park City, Utah. Your humble film editor is on the ground, in snow boots and several layers of sensible sweaters, with a film-going schedule that could alternately be described as “ambitious” or “insane.” Here are the ten movies that top our “must-see”… Read More
“It Gets Fuller”: Nick Offerman’s Movember “It Gets Better” Video
The best thing about Movember — well, you know, except for the “raising money to fight prostate and testicular cancer” part — is the stream of Nick Offerman-starring videos it invariably produces. Just before the month of facial-hair fundraising began, he offered a tutorial on how to grow a mustache. And now that we’re just about half way through Movember, he’s back with some encouragement. “It Gets Fuller” is a loving and spot-on parody of an “It Gets Better” video, in which Offerman coaches some familiar faces from The Office on how to power through that “in-between mustache” stage. Gentlemen, we encourage you to watch and take solace, after the jump. … Read More
Nick Offerman Teaches You How to Grow a Moustache
“My moustache grows with such rampant, perpetual virility, that we need to trim it 3 or 4 times a day during filming,” Nick Offerman revealed during an AMA on Reddit earlier this year. “It was cool at first (grade school), but to be honest, it’s getting old.” At this point, we’d argue that Ron Swanson’s lustrous moustache is more than just character defining facial hair. It’s a bit of pop culture history. And so, we can think of no better unofficial spokesperson for Movember, an annual month-long charity event that’s all about growing moustaches to help raise money for men’s health initiatives. In the video below, Offerman explains how he cultivated his own soup-strainer, a tale that involves Scottish sheep herders, Tibetan monks, and whale oil. Oh, and eating raw onions, peel and all. Because, why not? … Read More
Watch Nick Offerman Perform a Hilarious Love Song for Megan Mullally
Now that their Parks and Recreation cast mate Amy Poehler has called it quits with Will Arnett, it’s up to Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally to keep us in comedy power couple adorableness. Thankfully, that’s something they do quite well. It’s the rare Offerman interview that doesn’t include the actor rhapsodizing over his wife’s beauty, talent, and poise. And last night on Letterman, he gave us a taste of the song he wrote for Mullally’s 50th birthday. Although he only played a minute of so of what sounded to be a fairly lengthy composition, we got lyrics about Cialis, leprechauns, how she “made me your bitch, and I made you my wife.” Watch Offerman strum his acoustic guitar below, and perhaps daydream that he’s singing to you. … Read More
Megan Mullally Returning to ‘Parks and Rec’
Tammy is back! Megan Mullally will reprise her role as the second ex-wife of Nick Offerman’s Ron Swanson in the ninth episode of this season’s Parks and Rec, “Ron and Diane.” AV Club reported that the former Will & Grace star will be stirring up trouble for Ron who recently started a “thing” with… Read More

Nick Offerman Does Slam Poetry About Bacon
Not that we imagine that Nick Offerman needs much motivation to deliver a heartfelt, spoken word ode to bacon, but in this case, he’s certainly got a good reason: The hilarious clip below is part of CollegeHumor’s fantastic Malarious series, a charity video project featuring more than 30 celebrities who volunteered to do extremely silly things to help raise money for Malaria No More. Click through to watch Offerman’s contribution (which includes some really intense bongo playing!) now, and then donate some coin to see Ellie Kemper criticize puppies, Elizabeth Banks get hit with pies, and Audrey Plaza dress up like Dorothy and perform a scene from The Wizard of Oz. … Read More
