There are scores of TV shows out there, with dozens of new episodes each week, not to mention everything you can find on Hulu Plus, Netflix streaming, and HBO Go. How’s a viewer to keep up? To help you sort through all that television has to offer, we’re compiling the five best moments on TV each week. This time around, we have a TV antihero’s unplanned amputation and a stirring response to the Boston Marathon tragedy. … Read More

10 Reality Shows That Have Exceeded Their Expiration Date
In Season 6 of Jersey Shore, Snooki is pregnant. On last night’s two-hour premiere, we watched Nicole Polizzi waddle out to Seaside in a valiant attempt to enjoy the shore — and, more to the point, earn a six-figure-per-episode salary — without alcohol. Although we’ve never felt particularly great about ourselves after sitting through an entire episode of the show, this newest development (which we couldn’t watch for long at all) feels particularly depressing. So we’re glad MTV has decided that this will be the last season of Jersey Shore, and we’re hoping a few other veteran reality shows that have run out of ideas (or were just always terrible) will consider doing the same. After the jump, we look at ten that have exceeded their expiration date and are starting to stink. … Read More
The Morning’s Top 5 Pop Culture Stories
1. Sons of Anarchy actor Johnny Lewis was found dead outside of a home in LA yesterday; police say that he “appeared to have died from some type of fall, either from the stairway, or from the balcony, or from one of the roofs.” Lewis is also considered a suspect in the murder of an… Read More
‘Project Runway All Stars’ Designers’ Best Looks
Project Runway: All Stars premieres tonight, and despite the lack of Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum, and the judges we love to hate, we’ll be watching. But while we’re excited to revisit some of our favorite characters from the show’s first eight seasons — Austin Scarlett, Anthony Williams, Mondo Guerra — we have to admit that we’d entirely forgotten about a few the “all-star” cast members. So, to jog our memory and yours, we’ve put together a cheat sheet of the best looks each contestant created during their stint on Project Runway. Let us know who you’re rooting for in the comments. … Read More
10 Mid-Season TV Shows We Can't Wait to Watch
Mid-season TV is totally underrated. Largely seen as primetime’s second string, the slate of shows that pop up each winter to replace the fall season’s biggest failures has more to offer than you might think — especially at a time when cable and premium channels are challenging the networks’ traditional September-to-May schedule. With that in mind, there are a whole lot of new series debuting from December through February that we at Flavorpill can’t wait to watch. From Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell as corporate bloodsuckers to Kevin Smith’s comic-book store to the return of Deadwood creator David Milch, our ten most anticipated mid-season shows are after the jump. … Read More
Some ‘Project Runway All-Stars’ Observations, Based on This Trailer
Entertainment Weekly has posted the first (frustratingly un-embeddable) trailer for Project Runway All-Stars, which debuts January 5th and will feature all of the most interesting (and some of the most talented) designers who didn’t win their season, along with an entirely new host and panel of judges. Although frustrating finale decisions have tempted us to cut the Runway cord in the past, and our spirit animal Tim Gunn won’t be appearing, there’s no chance we’ll miss All-Stars – mainly because it features the return of our favorite contestant of all time, Austin Scarlett. After the jump, we have some observations and predictions about the season, based on the first glimpse. … Read More
Austin Scarlett, Mondo Guerra Return for ‘Project Runway All-Stars’
Last week, we learned that Heidi Klum won’t be hosting Project Runway All-Stars, which is currently filming in New York. Then, when we heard earlier today that Marie Claire editor Joanna Coles will be filling in for Tim Gunn as mentor for the spin-off season, we vowed not to watch it. But we’ll be damned if Lifetime didn’t find a way to suck us back in before the day was out — they’ve released their list of All-Stars competitors, and it’s pretty freaking amazing. We’re excited to get back some of our favorite Project Runway designers, from Austin Scarlett to Anthony Williams to last season’s shamefully jilted Mondo Guerra. We’re even psyched about the return of one of our favorite villains, Kenley Collins. Hell, we’re so excited we’ll even put up with one more season of Michael Costello! Check out the full All-Stars cast after the jump, with photos to jog your memory. … Read More
Did Heidi Klum Get Auf’d from ‘Project Runway’?
So, this is odd. RumorFix (which, despite its name, actually confirmed the story with a representative for the show) reports that Heidi Klum won’t host the next season of Project Runway. Although she appears on Season 9, which is currently airing, Project Runway All-Stars has been shooting in New York without her. “There will be a… Read More
‘Project Runway’ Season 9: The Contestants We Love and Hate
We know, we know: After last year’s horrible season finale — which we will forever refer to as “Mondogate” — we swore off Project Runway. But old habits die hard, and we found ourselves watching the Season 9 premiere last night, just to see whether it was worth our time. And you know what? We weren’t disappointed. Although the idea of bringing 20 contestants to New York only to cut four in the first half hour was gimmicky, the challenge was great: Tim Gunn roused the designers at five in the morning and dragged them into the work room to create a look from their pajamas and bed sheet. So far, the characters are intriguing and the judging makes sense — even Nina and Michael behaved themselves! Our take on the 15 contestants who remain now that the Rafael Cox has been auf’d is after the jump. … Read More
Wanted: Colorful Jewelry by Colorful ‘Project Runway’ Alum Mondo
We had been Project Runway fans since the very beginning, so it was with heavy hearts that we decided we were done with the show when its eighth season ended with perhaps the worst reality-competition call we’ve ever seen. Instead of anointing bright, brave, lovable, and — most importantly — talented Mondo Guerra, the judges… Read More
