Exclusive Q&A: Amanda Seyfried and Julianne Moore Get Intimate in Chloe

3

Atom Egoyan’s new thriller Chloe explores themes of consuming jealousy and passion with a smart European sensibility that puts an exciting spin on the love triangle genre with Amanda Seyfried and Julianne Moore at the center — their sex scene is a particularly memorable, um, climax. The script was penned by Erin Cressida Wilson, who’s no stranger to sexual kinks. She tackled S&M with aplomb and erotic wit in Secretary, now tackling a subversive story that follows a woman (Julianne Moore) as she hires a prostitute (Amanda Seyfried) to test her husband’s (Liam Neeson) fidelity. As their encounters grow intense, the lines between reality and fantasy blur and unexpected desires are awakened in all three propelling the film to its startling yet inevitable conclusion. We caught up with Seyfried, Moore, and the filmmakers to talk about sex, manipulation and other bedrocks of a good marriage. Click through for the full Q&A. Read More »

Exclusive Q&A: Jason Schwartzman Is Crafty as a Fox

2

Fantastic Mr. Fox, a children’s story about an artful poultry-stealing gentleman fox, was written by Roald Dahl in 1970. 39 years later, indie director Wes Anderson brings Mr. Fox and his brethren to the silver screen with minutely detailed stop-motion animation and trademark Anderson quirk.

Jason Schwartzman, the voice of Ash Fox, describes this new venture in storytelling as “familiar, but on some new trip,” and he would know. Though he’s worked with Anderson, his self-professed “best friend,” on two previous movies and one short film, Fantastic Mr. Fox presented new challenges in movie-making: imagine, for example, the core characters gathering on a farm in Connecticut to record dialogue in real time, complete with howling, digging in the dirt, and wind whistling through trees. The result, a surprising and thoroughly delightful romp through a literary English countryside, is a new tableau to which Anderson has applied his singular, curated vision.

We sat down with Schwartzman to talk BFFs, script vetting, and his experience with not getting the girl.

ladyhawke

After the release of her eponymous debut album, New Zealand musician Phillipa Brown, known as Ladyhawke, enjoyed near-unanimous critical acclaim and the development of a steadily-growing international fan base. She’s co-headlining a tour with Semi Precious Weapons, Julian Perretta, and Frankmusick sponsored by gossip blogger Perez Hilton (which kicked off yesterday in Atlanta) and is currently working on the follow up to her debut. Her singles “Paris Is Burning” and “My Delirium” are slick throwbacks to the glory days of ’80s synth pop and have both been hits overseas.

After the jump, read our complete interview with Brown, where we chat about meeting Perez, Christina Aguilera’s rumored cover of one of her hits, and why she’s really grunge at heart. Read More »
