That’s what Jay-Z tells Ian Brown (former lead singer of The Stone Roses and king of the “Madchester” scene) in their artist-on-artist interview in the new issue of NME. The fact that Kanye flew into Manchester to deliver Jay the beats is funny in a dramatic sense — we’re imagining him in a trench, with briefcase — and also another interesting piece in the Jay-Z is an indie rock fan puzzle. Do you think he intended to birth his album in a town so crucial to the alternative rock genre? If Kanye is the seed, does that make Jay-Z Chucky?

Quote of the Day: Carrie Fisher Makes Us Laugh Out Loud
+Carrie Fisher talks to New York Magazine about her one-woman show, Wishful Drinking, which played LA back in 2006 and opens at Studio 54 on October 4th. If it’s anything like the salacious memoir it inspired, we’re in for a tragicomic look at the highs and lows of Hollywood life. Interviewer Amy Larocca is right: Fisher’s witty confessional musings reveal Courtney Love and Kanye West as mere amateurs. Read more quote-worthy quips on her personal blog here.

Quote of the Day: Meet Mad Men’s Rich Sommer
1See, we weren’t the only ones who were impressed by Peter and Trudy’s dancing skills! Read more from the rather adorable Rich Sommer — including his take on the now infamous lawnmower scene — in an interview over on Vulture. Side epiphany: We just realized that the reason Harry Crane has always looked so familiar was Sommer’s bit role in The Devil Wears Prada.

Quote of the Day: Pee-wee Herman Is Back
+Pee-wee Herman made an appearance on last night’s episode of The Jay Leno Show, and now he has shown up on Twitter. Do you find this news as exciting as we do? Maybe we just know that with tickets already sold out for his limited-engagement at LA’s Music Box in November, this is as close to our old pal as we’re going to get for a while.

Quote of the Day: Obama, Consider This Your Warning
+
When asked why Obama gets a pass in his latest film, Capitalism: A Love Story, Michael Moore told the Toronto Film Festival audience assembled at its North American premiere that he’ll be keeping an eye on President Obama. Can you picture a more awkward visual than Moore shoving his huge megaphone into Obama’s face? Or maybe it would be a good challenge for the filmmaker. We can’t really imagine Barry losing his cool like some people… [via WSJ]

Quote of the Day: Kathy Griffin and Levi Johnston, Explained
+
Time Magazine interviews My Life on the D-List star Kathy Griffin about her new tell-all memoir, Official Book Club Selection, and touches on flames both past (Steve Wozniak) and present (Levi Johnston). So that explains that. We had assumed that Griffin and Johnston were forming some sort of irresistible-to-the-gays power couple. Really it was just Captain Segway fallout.

Quote of the Day: What Is Guillermo del Torro’s Top Secret Project?
+
While it might be epic in scale, it sounds like The Hobbit isn’t the only film that Guillermo del Toro is working on these days. Any idea what the “d” might stand for? As Slashfilm notes, he is set to produce a film adaptation of DC Comics character Deadman, but that’s not exactly news. Could it have something to do with Drood, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, or Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, three other “d” films that he’s attached to? [via Slashfilm]

Quote of the Day: Who Does Stephen Colbert Owe an Apology to?
2
An interesting moment in a new Rolling Stone interview with Stephen Colbert. When he asked if he would apologize in character, Colbert gave this rather meta response, “It would be meant sincerely, though of course it would have to be done as a joke. So your question is very interesting to me. Can someone perceive something my character says sincerely? I don’t know the answer to that.”
Leave your guesses about who he offended in the comments. Could it have something to do with his now infamous appearance at the 2006 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner?
