Watch Rider Strong Spoof Every USA Procedural in ‘Hooker Lawyer’
We’re already on record as pro-Rider Strong, the actor and independent filmmaker better known as Boy Meets World’s Shawn Hunter to everyone who grew up on ABC’s ’90s TGIF lineup. But our admiration has only grown stronger (sorry for that) with the release of Above Average’s spot-on USA spoof, where he stars as a “playboy attorney” who exclusively serves working girls in a procedural called Hooker Lawyer. While this alone would be excellent satire, Strong’s segment is only one of three new faux USA shows all titled Hooker Lawyer and scheduled to air in a three-hour block. Looking for some lunch-hour viewing? You could certainly do worse than “Your Lucky Day,” directed by Dan Brown — no, not the mediocre best-selling author, the Seattle filmmaker who has worked with Nike and did the credits for House. The 15-minute short, set almost entirely in a convenience store, is a cross between an action thriller, a Shakespearean tragedy, and that Lost subplot about Hurley’s lottery curse.
