Flavorpill’s Stomping Grounds featuring the Postelles

2

Our original video series Stomping Grounds, presented by PUMA, is back with a look at another great band and how its rock-’n-rolling members spend their nights out. Our third episode introduces the Postelles, a group of NYC retro rockers who got their first break thanks to Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. Join drummer Billy Cadden and lead axeman David Dargahi as they hit some of their favorite New York City nightspots, including Lower East Side club Fontana’s and the always popular bar/restaurant Spitzer’s Corner. Along the way, they explain exactly what a Postelle is, reveal a band tradition that sounds surprisingly similar to a recent Foo Fighters revelation, and try to convince us they play cricket in the city streets at night. Watch the Postelles Stomping Grounds video now, then tell us who you’d like to hit the town with in the next one.

In fact, most of the night felt like an incredible time warp, beginning with the Overture from Tommy performed by the fresh faced kids of the Music Unites Youth Choir and led by bandleader extraordinaire Steven Bernstein while playing his slide trumpet like an electric guitar.

Exclusive: The Postelles (Albert Hammond, Jr.’s Pet Project) Review Little Joy (Fab Moretti’s Side Project)

+

We met The Postelles a few months back when they were in the middle of an impromptu recording session for Gen Art. Our first impression: they made us feel old. But after we got over how fresh-faced this quartet is, we realized that we liked them. We really, really liked them.

So did former Stroke Albert Hammond, Jr., which is why he agreed to produce their debut album. We decided this makes them the perfect guest reviewers for Little Joy, the self-titled debut from Fabrizio Moretti’s buzzy side-project Little Joy, which dropped a few weeks back. Kind of like a six degrees of Julian Casablancas thing.

The Postelles’s thoughts, along with a free MP3 download from their own debut, after the jump.
