It probably won’t surprise anyone that the first trailer for Facebook epic The Social Network, a David Fincher movie written by Aaron Sorkin, is all about language. The first word to flash across the screen is “PUNK,” followed by epithets that range from “GENIUS” to “TRAITOR.” Then, the disembodied voice of Jesse Eisenberg-as-Mark Zuckerberg spits out some signature Sorkin zingers: “We don’t know what it can be. We don’t know what it will be. We know that it is cool,” then “If you guys were the inventors of Facebook… you’d have invented Facebook.” Then there’s the tagline, which appears just a few moments before Eisenberg’s pixelated face comes into focus, Chuck Close-style: “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.” Watch the trailer after the jump and tell us if it has you excited for The Social Network or if it’s all just words, words, words.
