Bollywood Costumes Get an Andy Warhol Makeover

By now, you’ve probably heard about Bollywood’s controversial, potentially ill-conceived Hitler biopic, which recently lost its lead actor. Here at Flavorpill, we’re more excited about Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, a forthcoming mafia film about the city’s seedy ’70s underbelly. And since we’re always up for some pretty, cross-cultural costumes, we were intrigued to hear about what inspired the film’s wardrobe choices: “We have included the whole West side story in our styling, right from denim bell bottoms to jumpsuits to cowl necklines to crocodile leather boots. For Kangna [Ranaut], we went with inspiration from Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, supermodel Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn because our Bollywood then was inspired by the supermodels and actors of the West,” Rushi Sharma of Fools’ Paradise told The Hindu .

Watch the trailer and check out some of our favorite looks after the jump.
