Nerina Pallot also has a fantastic song titled “Idaho.” I much prefer it to Josh Ritter, though that’s largely my own musical taste…she sounds a LOT like Vanessa Carlton.

Oh, man. Feeling lame by pointing this out, but “Train from Kansas City” is actually about Kansas City (Missouri, where the train station is) and not Kansas.

Suggestions: Josh Ritter’s “Lawrence, Kansas” or the Get Up Kids’ “Campfire Kansas”.

Exit 977 in Albany, NY has a two day holiday special in the works called 50 Songs for 50 States. It’s running on Saturday, July 2nd from Noon to 6 and Sunday, July 3rd from Noon to 8. You’ll hear songs about all 50 American states, songs for cities within those states, and tons of road songs that will drop place names all weekend long.
