Pic of the Day: The City of Staples

For Peter Root‘s Ephemicropolis, the patient, steady-handed artist placed stacks of 100,000 staples over a 600 x 300cm lobby space, creating a stunning cityscape in miniature. It took him 40 hours. “The work I create regularly involves highly labor-intensive, mantra-like procedures of construction and assemblage,” he explains. “As well as being simple, playful experiments [it] often touches upon themes of impermanence, repetition, structure, pattern, scale and architecture.” Detail images, plus a time-lapse “making of” video, after the jump.
