Illustrator M.S. Corley’s retro vision for the Harry Potter series (which we discovered via Buzzfeed) would certainly be less embarrassing to tote around with you on the subway, and we find them charming in that middle school required reading kind of way. i dig 'em! of course, i'm not a die-hard potter fan (actually i could take 'em or leave 'em, to be honest), so it's not like these are distracting or detracting from any of the magic of the tales for me. i just think they're pretty cool, retro takes on the series. they remind me of old saul bass movie poster (check out his design for the "man with the golden arm"). and that's pretty awesome.
these are so dang cool!
A+. They remind of me of these tarot cards:

As a die-hard fan, I can honestly say I loathe the “friendly” American covers. These covers are amazing! I’d buy them all over again if they were done this way.. thankfully my collection contains covers done by a Canadian company, so I don’t own the awful GrandPre cover editions…. she’s a fine artist and all, not knocking on her talent, but I just don’t like the American covers.. these are slick! :)
