Jerry Stiller, who played George Costanza’s father Frank on Seinfeld, took a trip to Queens to visit the house used for the exterior shots of the Costanza home on the classic sitcom for the New York Daily News. On the way to the house Stiller, 83, reminisces about playing Frank on the show before knocking on the door of Bessie and Jack Lopipero.
Star-struck, the elderly couple welcomed the actor and camera crew into their home. When asked about whether she knew the show, Bessie said, “Yes, I watched it every single day, hoping that I could see my house.” As Stiller explains, all the interior shots were all done in Hollywood, but he still seems to have a connection to the neighborhood. Stiller later tells the camera how grateful he was for their generosity, “quite unlike the Costanzas we knew.” He concludes, “This is probably the best thing I ever did in my life.”
Watch and get the warm fuzzies.
