Maurizio Cattelan, who is perhaps Italy’s most well-known contemporary artist, is no stranger to creating waves with his work. A provocative new public art installation in Milan called “L.O.V.E.,” which is part of a larger retrospective dedicated to Cattelan, is no exception. On display in front of the Milan Stock Exchange, the 11-meter tall sculpture features an enormous marble hand giving the one-finger salute. “Officially its name is L.O.V. E. — so it stands for love — but everyone can read between the lines and take away the message they see for themselves,” he says. How do you think one of those would look down on Wall Street?
