Back in 1993, Kurt Cobain wrote a letter to MTV, expressing the sentiment that tons of real music fans have angrily muttered over the years. Unfortunately, he never sent it. But Kurt was probably right to note that Nirvana could have survived without the network, although we certainly wouldn’t want to have missed out on the gorgeous, upsetting video for “Heart-Shaped Box.” It’s probably a good thing that he isn’t around to witness Jersey Shore.
