So, this is weird. The first trailer for MTV’s adaptation of our favorite British teen TV show, Skins, is out. Writer Mike Pelfrey tells us that the series is about “the wild ride of being a teenager in America today” and introduces a fairly generous selection of clips from the pilot.

Now, when we first learned about the show, we anticipated several potential pitfalls. But it never occurred to us that they might try to do a shot-for-shot, line-for-line copy of the original. And yet, the preview suggests that’s exactly what they did. As much as we’d like to enjoy to the MTV version, it seems tone-deaf to pretend there aren’t major difference between teens growing up here and across the pond.
