Iggy Pop’s Sweet, Crazy Handwritten Rejection Letter

2

Letters of Note continues to surprise and delight us with a wonderful missive du jour from one Iggy Pop. Decades ago, a fan named Heinz Riegler — an Austrian-born, Australia-based songwriter who seems like an interesting and fairly successful musician — sent Pop a cassette tape of his band’s music, with the request that he do guest vocals on one track. Although the Ig declined to participate, he did respond with a few handwritten words of encouragement, telling Riegler the music has “some kind of good feeling to it, it’s playing & i haven’t wanted to turn it off yet.” See the entire letter after the jump, and if you can’t read Iggy’s chicken scratch, click over to Letters of Note for the transcript.
