Every year around this time, we get a positively insatiable craving for a McDonalds Shamrock Shake. (Hey, lay off! At least we ditched our dangerous Filet O’ Fish habit.) But after reading some despairing forecasts online, and finding that no, there is no NYC MickeyD’s near our Soho HQ dispensing the magical, minty concoction, our intrepid chefs-in-residence/photojournalists, Leah and Andy, came up with an even better recipe. We will, we will shamRock you.

Why didn't we see any Shamrock Shake body shots?
My favorite simpsons line is when the 3 Cops are at Krusty Burger drinking milk shakes and someone says. "Partially Gelatinated Gum Based Non Dairy Beverage." And the other Cop says, "I heard about this other place called McDonalds and apparently they call it a milk shake." and the other Cop says, "Milk Shake? You don't even know what you're getting!"
Loved this, but can you guys post a recipe or something?
What IS that booze? I want the recipe!
Erm…from the pictures, it looked like the recipe was one Vanilla milkshake, some green food colouring, and a shot of creme de menthe…
Photojournalism has been taken to a new level.
yep, you got it. Also love. we mixed it with love…
As a native chicagoian now in NYC, I've been craving a shamrock shake too — and I didn't even like the damn things growing up! But much to my dismay, turns out you can't get them in NYC — you have to cross state lines (or at least go upstate) to get the real thing: http://gothamist.com/2009/03/13/shamrock_shake_st…
just for the record: I always go for the 1/2 shamrock shake, 1/2 chocolate shake so it tastes like an Andes mint. Mmmmm…
oh man, that's an excellent idea re: mixing in chocolate! we've got a bunch of creme de menthe left over… maybe round 2 will be andes-flavored. cheers!
Take that, Grimace!!
Boo for no green shakes! I’m taking the green smoothie route…
is everyone forgetting about Shake Shack? They do have Peppermint Patty shakes today (and they make their shakes from real ingredients)
Makes me glad I live upstate!
