H.A.M. It Up: Hip-Hop Songs About Meat

Amid all the speculation about “H.A.M.,” the collaborative Kanye West and Jay-Z song that dropped today, we couldn’t help but wonder: could “H.A.M.” turn out to be just, well… ham? The meat? In fact, as many had guessed, the acronym stands for “hard as a motherfucker.” But we still couldn’t help but giggle to ourselves, hearing Yeezy and Hova tell us, “I’m goin’ ham!” With the additional news that Jay-Z is investing in a chicken wing restaurant, we couldn’t help but put together this playlist of hip-hop songs about meat. Lady Gaga, consider yourself on notice.

Kanye West and Jay-Z – “H.A.M.”

Boogie Down Productions – “Beef” Spoiler alert: they’re against it.

Trill Billy – “Turkey Legg” “I chew that turkey just like I’m a pilgrim.”

Brotha Lynch Hung – “Meat” A pretty inspiring track about trying to make ends meet to feed your kid.

Northern Cali Nightstalkers – “Bacon Bitz” If you guessed there was a cops=pigs metaphor in this song, then you would be right.

The Weathermen – “Fried Fish” Another unfortunate metaphor.

Esham – “Lamb Chopz” A lot scarier than any song about a classy cut of meat has a right to be.

Webstar and Young B. – “Chicken Noodle Soup” Yeah, “chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side” sounds pretty good on a cold day.

Lil Wayne – “Beef” Not actually about cow meat.

71RAW – “Raw Fish” Sushi never sounded so… raw.
