Open Letter to Barack Obama: Why You’ve Got to Go on SNL Before the Election

Share:

Word on the web is that BARACK OBAMA is considering a cameo appearance on tomorrow night’s episode of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, three days before his long, strange trip to the White House is finally over.

Frankly, we think it’s a great idea — a fitting finale to a political soap opera that’s gone too far, too wide, and too long without acknowledging that it’s even sick of itself. SNL can only help his cause, especially if like HILLARY CLINTON he proves to viewers that he’s not afraid to laugh at himself.

Plus, it’ll be a great excuse to stay at home and nurse the Halloween hangover.

After the jump our top five reasons why Obama must go on SNL. Feel free to chime in in the comments.

5. It’s folksy. You need to show Middle America that SARAH PALIN doesn’t have the corner on that market. 4. You owe us. You were supposed to be on the show’s season premiere with Michael Phelps, but Hurricane Ike got in the way. 3. Only elitists ignore buy-one-get-one-free deals. You’ve already paid NBC $1 million for the first half-an-hour, you might as well get more bang for your buck. 2. BEN AFFLECK will be there. He hearts politics. Maybe you two can pal around together. 1. JOHN MCCAIN is hinting at a making an appearance, too. You can’t let him out cool you with the kids.
