LCD Soundsystem’s Last Show Ever Announced

Horror of horrors! LCD Soundsystem, beloved staple band of indie rockers and frat house poppers alike, is breaking up. And they’re playing their last show ever at Madison Square Garden, of all places. Sigh. If you live in NYC, you might have seen posters to that effect going up around the city, but yesterday, the band posted this missive on their website for all to see.

good people of earth: lcd soundsystem are playing madison square garden on april 2nd, and it will be our last show ever. we are retiring from the game. gettin’ out. movin’ on. but for just one more night, we will be playing with friends and family for nearly 3 hours–playing stuff we’ve never played before and going out with a bang. and we’d like you to be there. if you would, we’d love it if people all came in white. or black. or black and white. and come ready to have fun, please. and come early, as the festivities will be opened by our favorites, liquid liquid. yes: liquid liquid.

Another great American band bites the dust. Better iron your tuxedos for the funeral.

james murphy is dope. but i just dont get why you would exit the game at your height??? i mean. its obviously a good fuck you to the music industry. gaining tens of thousands of fans, making money, and then leaving. but its also a sad day for fans. each album better then the last. its just not the time haha. damnit. COME BACK.. atleast play coachella again or something. fuck

and i could have snuck in at the private miami beach party during art basel for a mind blowing night...naa, i said...i'll see them again. how will my wife ever get daft punk to play at our house...how i ask?

I thought I was too old to be sad about the departure of a band, however LCD have provided the soundtrack to some of the best times of my life. 2007 will always come back when I listen to 'Sounds of Silver' and 'Tribulations' will always remind me of the entire bridal party jumping around like lunatics at my friends' wedding - in pretty dresses and all. Wish I could be in NYC to see them off.

Two words: Jay-Z. just pray to hov that LCD's comeback record is better than "Kingdom Come"
