Now for some less thrilling news: Five years after its final episode aired, NBC has decided to bring back Fear Factor because reruns of the reality show are producing unexpectedly high ratings for the Chiller network. Whatever that is.
According to NBC’s head of alternative programming Paul Telegdy, the new incarnation of the series will be different. “The stunt and camera technologies have evolved since then, we’re going to be able to make it even bigger,” he explained to Entertainment Weekly. “We’re going to make it more visually arresting.” So it sounds like people will still be eating exploding slugs until they vomit — now they’ll just be doing it in high def.
