In a move that would definitely please Glee’s Sue Sylvester, photographer Kelli Connell’s series of portraits documents a relationship between two women… herself and herself. She re-stages her experiences and observations as believable scenes: A lost couple sharing a map, a date at the pool hall, the beginning of an intimate encounter in “their” living room. Connell plays both parts and “constructs realities” by scanning two or more film negatives and manipulating them in Photoshop. See the compelling images exploring femininity, masculinity and “the duality or multiplicity of the self” in our slideshow.
