Matt and Kim Strip Down… Or Do They?

10

New York indie-pop duo Matt and Kim have caused quite a stir with their new video for “Lessons Learned.” In the clip, the two (apparently) strip naked while walking through Times Square on a cold day. We’re not sure quite how they pulled it off, but many people remain unconvinced. Whether or not we’re getting the full (censored) picture, it goes without saying that cordoning off one of the busiest parts of the city during the day and bringing in scores of extras is no small feat; the alternative being that a number of kids out there had some serious questions for mom and dad after their excursion in the Big Apple. After the jump, watch the video and let us know how you think it went down. (And whatever you believe, we dare you not to gasp at the end.)

Yeah – whatevs – who cares if yo can't see their nasty bits!

All their songs are about staying up late and "having fun." Isn't anyone else sick of this cutesy shit?

i thought this was a rad video and well done. it did preciesely what i imagine it set out to do: get people watching, talking, and paying attention.

what do you have against fun? ;)

it's well known that i hate fun, but i gotta admit, these guys are growing on me.

did they do it outside the mtv building? maybe they helped? i was just about to say it seemed very real to me but i realized, those cops came in and gave them a beatdown then didn't chase them and also, their timing (the cops') was so perfect with the track length. heh. overall though it just made me homesick for NYC. if you did that out here no one would even notice.

The weirdest thing to me was the fact that no-one did anything to the video camera filming it. Thats what I think the cops would have attacked first. I would think more than two cops would have handled it too. Interesting video though

J.A.Z.’s number of cop thing doesn’t make any sense. It isn’t as though someone put in a call, and a mess of police respond by squad car. Maybe you live in the sticks. There are police stationed around Times square. They might have just seen the crowd, or someone told them. The police also would not have gone after the cameraman first, bc he isn’t actually doing anything wrong. What if a tourist was filming his family on vaca and happened to get some footage? He’s not doing anything wrong. You can film anything you want in a public space. The policeman who gets Kim looks familiar to me, but I don’t think if it were real, Matt and Kim would have resisted arrest, and if they had, I think Matt at least would been taken down. I also don’t think they would have wanted to videotape themselves resisting arrest.

[...] the good old days, when all that Matt and Kim did to grab attention for their music videos was strip down in Times Square? Now the Brooklyn duo is beating each other up. Brutally. With instruments! And they always seemed [...]

At 1:59 you can see the guy is wearing something under his jocks…
offcourse this is fake because if it wasnt it would be
1. Resisting arrest.
2. Indicent exposure in public.
3. The cops would have FKED THEM UP PROPERLY!
Game Over…
da da dada daaaaaa
