Superheroes tend to be the perfect specimens of youthful health and fitness. Perhaps that’s why Dylan Collard’s photo series depicting our favorite superheroes and supervillains as they might look in old age is — along with being funny — vaguely unsettling. We see a haggard Wonder Woman glumly going about her janitorial duties, while a droopy Joker seems to be browsing the Classified section. A cosmo-clutching Catwoman looks more like Samantha Jones than a serious threat. On his Behance page, the artist notes that the series is his way of “exploring ideas of fantasy, reality and mortality” by imagining what might have become of his childhood heroes in the real world.
