Harry Potter to Star in New ‘Troll’ Film

For those of you who’ve been praying for a new Harry Potter movie ever since you saw the last one three times on opening weekend, we have… well, not exactly good news, but a whole lot of strange news. Yes, there is a new film in the works with a protagonist named Harry Potter — but he’s not that Harry Potter. As Badass News reminds us, the main character in the famously horrendous ’80s movie Troll is named Harry Potter Jr., and now the folks behind that schlock touchstone are cashing in on their claim to the name with a remake called The Troll: Rise of Harry Potter. In an interview with WENN, a spokesman for the project maintains that “Troll‘s owner decided not to sue J. K. Rowling or Warner Bros” for stealing their character (by the way, they didn’t) “because of a family tragedy at the time” and affirms that “[t]his film is not a continuation of J.K. Rowling’s intrepid boy wizard. It is about everybody’s other favourite boy with magical powers — Harry Potter Jr. — and his father Harry Potter.” And by “favourite,” he means your alcoholic uncle who still lives in your grandma’s basement and prides himself on his extensive VHS collection.
