Get ready, friends, for the weirdest rumor you’ll hear all day: According to one “top media insider” who spoke to MediaTakeOut.com, the baby bump Beyoncé was sporting at last week’s MTV Video Music Awards was a fake. In a dispatch that appears to have been written by a junior-high Livejournal enthusiast on amphetamines, the site reports, “Our insider claims that Beyonce IS IN FACT pregnant. But that she is NOT in her second trimester – she’s only a little more than 8 WEEKS pregnant. Tells the insider, ‘She wanted the announcement to be dramatic, so she made sure she had a baby bump.'” Considering the source, we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that this is a lot of fuss over nothing — for one thing, most moms-to-be don’t publicly reveal their pregnancy until they’re past the volatile first trimester. Then again, it also occurred to us that Beyoncé was looking a bit further than three months along (her official word) on the red carpet. [via NME ]
