Awesome Infographic: Putting TV Ratings in Perspective

If you spend too much time on the Internet — as we obviously do — it can tend to skew your perspective about pop culture. For instance, we talk about Mad Men as though everyone is watching it, while Community is the scrappy, embattled little sitcom that nobody’s even heard of. In reality, as this Splitsider graph shows, significantly fewer people tuned in to Mad Men‘s Season 4 finale than this week’s Community; the difference is that while the former is on cable, the latter is on NBC, where it’s expected to pull in more viewers. Both series’ numbers pale in comparison with The Big Bang Theory‘s and even The Simpsons‘ (about which the general consensus has long been that the show is on its last legs). See the actual numbers, and maybe cry a little, at Splitsider.
