Here’s a project that’s sure to divide the Quentin Tarantino faithful: YouTube’s The Crime Writer has posted a re-cut version of Pulp Fiction – all two-and-a-half hours of it — that puts the film’s events in chronological order. Of course, the structure Tarantino imposed on the movie was complex and purposeful; it heightens suspense and creates the kind of confusion that keeps viewers on their toes. But The Crime Writer’s project is thought-provoking, at the very least. As Marc Campbell at Dangerous Minds points out, “It’s an interesting experiment that illustrates how editing can alter the dynamic of a film.” If you have a few free hours on your hands, watch Pulp Fiction in chronological order and let us know if it changes your perspective on the movie.
