Tomorrow might be the first day of winter, but it sure doesn’t feel like it here in New York, where temperatures are currently hovering in the 50s — downright balmy for this time of year. And while the mythos of the impending holiday involves waking up on Christmas morning to a blanket of fresh snow, for those of us who don’t live in a jewelry commercial, this just isn’t the reality. If only we had Netherlands-based photographer Maria Netsounski on hand. Using infrared technology, she transforms images of tropical locations into dramatic landscapes that look like something Narnia’s White Witch would have dreamed up. Click through to check out a selection of photos from the series, and head over to Netosounski’s website to see some of her other work, which includes some fantastic tilt-shift shots of the Manhattan skyline.
