Julianne Moore is… Modigliani’s muse, a Klimt damsel, and a tousled temptress by Egon Schiele. Recently, this incredible photo shoot with the actress has surfaced out of an old Harper’s Bazaar and into the art-minded Tumblr-sphere. Check out the shots taken by the famous fashion photographer Peter Linderbergh, side-by-side with their original inspirations, as spotted by Museum Nerd. What strikes us isn’t just the meticulous styling, strategically echoing the visuals of the original artwork with couture. Moore is doing a splendid job channeling the subjects, beaming with vigor of a glamorous “cripple” by John Currin, as if she was a Currin model frozen in a frame. You be the judge. Do these do it for you?

Julianne Moore by Peter Lindbergh as The Cripple by John Currin for Harper’s Bazaar.

I would love to know the designer clothes she’s wearing… I’m assuming that was the MO for the photoshoot…
@Marley: Here you go. http://www.harpersbazaar.com/magazine/cover/julianne-moore-lookbook-0508
Julianne’s greatest work of ‘art’ was when she was naked with Amanda Seyfried in Chloe!
Julianne is an amazing actress and a beautiful woman. These recreations were stunning. I wish there were more.
Concept: 2 out of 10
Execution of Piece: 3 out of 10
Beauty and Charm of Julianne Moore: 10 out of 10
One of the most inspiring photoshoots I’ve ever seen.
Not really the right match for the Degas. The paintings “Before the Rehearsal” (c 1880) or maybe “Danseuse” are better based on the poses and dress.
this is the meaning of the word kitch.Julianne Moore is an idiot, as I’ve always suspected.
In the “reinterpreting History of Atrs” mood, I’m still loving this one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erbd9cZpxps
umm you mean “kitsch”? b/c i’m prety sure ‘kitch’ is just short for kitchen,
I’d watch Julianne in anything, but these photos do nothing for me. Don’t really see the ‘channeling’ either.
Julianne Moore is gorgeous! I love these remakes.
Excellent!!!
brilliant!!!
lighten up! This is fun, and Julianne is in the entertainment business… be entertained!!
Yawn
If that’s all she can bring to the table of inspiration, she should stick to acting on stage and in films. Thumbs down.
The Degas Little Dancer is without any grace, is so evident Ms. Moore are not the legs build as a dancer, this one is a goofy, but the others photos are fun.
Es preocupante la falta de creatividad, ir a la historia del arte para realizar una serie de fotografias que junto a la obra original no significan absolutamente nada.
and still not nearly as lovely as madame x.
These are positively stunning!
