Watch “Robot,” a Recently Unearthed Jim Henson Short from 1963

As we’ve previously pointed out, there are plenty of lesser-known gems by Jim Henson floating around the Internet. The latest one to come across our desk? A short educational film that the Muppets master created for The Bell System back in ’60s to illustrate the growing (and often complicated) relationship between man and machine to a group of suits. “While mere mortals wallow in a sea of emotionalism,” intones the robot narrator, “the machine is busy digesting vast oceans of information in a single, all encompassing gulp.” Yikes! Watching this weird little film, we can’t help but wonder what Henson would have made of our unhealthy reliance on Siri.
