Now here’s a way to get kids to interact with their reading assignments. London-based publishing house Faber & Faber recently announced the winners of their Lord of the Flies book cover competition, wherein they asked students between the ages of 13 and 16 in the UK and Ireland to design a new cover for William Golding’s classic novel. The winning design — judged by a panel that included Golding’s daughter Judy — will be used as the actual cover for Faber & Faber’s new educational edition of the novel, which we have to admit is a pretty cool prize, one that would surely have gotten us scribbling as teenagers. Click through to see the winning design, as well as several runners up that we quite liked, and then be sure to head on over to the gallery to see even more worthy designs.

The winner!
