We’ve been eyeing up Boards of Canada’s website, wondering about a new release this year, and along came Kottke throwing us a bone. According to them, actor and BoC fan Peter Serafinowicz chirped about the possible new album during his Saturday morning show for 6Music. The transcription from the episode reads:
“I’m gonna play some Board of Canada now. I’m a bit of a Boards of Canada evangelist. They’re my favorite band, I think. Maybe them and The Beatles. But, they are a band, again, a bit like The Fall. It’s like once you get into them, or rather, once something clicks you just wanna hear everything they’ve released … They’ve got a new album coming out soon, and I think it’s gonna be a double album and I’m so excited, I really am, to hear their new one.”
It could be a wild guess on the Shaun of the Dead star’s part, but since we’re feeling needy for more from the electronic duo we thought we’d share the rumor. Nothing has been confirmed, so please take this with a grain of salt. A double LP would certainly be a treat — particularly since the group isn’t known for their fast-paced releases. Their last major album was 2005’s The Campfire Headphase — unless you count the 2006 EP Trans Canada Highway. We’ll bring you more news when we get it, hopefully soon.
