Here at Flavorpill, we were, um, delighted to feature on the Onion yesterday, but for all that we’ve always adored the paper’s scalpel-sharp satire, we’ve also long been fans of its more serious cousin, the AV Club. So we’re happy to see that their AV Undercover series — wherein they compile a list of 25 songs and get bands to cover them — is back for a third season. The series has been responsible for some excellent covers over the last couple of years — some of which, come to think of it, could well have featured on our list of surprisingly awesome covers — and kicks off this week with Sharon Van Etten and Shearwater doing a rather fine version of the Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks duet “Stop Dragging My Heart Around.” Check it out here.
