Captivating Human Body Paintings by Chadwick and Spector

Thailand-based artists Chadwick Gray and Laura Spector, whose series “Museum Anatomy” we first spotted over at Lost at E Minor, recreate elaborate paintings on Chadwick’s body, rescuing “lost, stolen, unknown, destroyed or otherwise unpopular paintings usually found in museum storage facilities” and giving them a new life as body paintings and then as photographs. The resultant work, they write, is “a unification of art combining antiquity, history and technology in a contemporary context.” It’s also often disturbing and strange, but incredibly captivating — we couldn’t stop looking — especially when Chadwick’s body merges with the painting so well that we’re not sure just what body parts we’re looking at.
