Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation, Being John Malkovich: yes, yes, and yes. Now writer, producer, and director Charlie Kaufman is using his awesome mind powers to bring fans his latest project — a novel. Deadline reports that Kaufman just made a deal with Grand Central Publishing to deliver his first book — the subject of which is apparently tightly under wraps. The news comes while the quirky filmmaker is working on his latest directorial effort Frank or Francis— another secret endeavor — that so far has only been described as a musical “Hollywood satire” involving a feud between a movie director and a blogger. Nic Cage, Steve Carell, Elizabeth Banks, Catherine Keener, Jack Black, Kevin Kline and Paul Reubens have all been rumored to be interested, but nothing has been confirmed as of this time. Apart from his screenwriting efforts, Kaufman has also written the 2005 play Hope Leaves the Theater, which starred Meryl Streep. Still, we haven’t seen much from the enigmatic creative since 2008’s Synecdoche, New York. Is a Charlie Kaufman novel in your book buying future?
