‘Community’ Creator Dan Harmon Apologizes for Bad Behavior

By now you’ve heard about the feud between Community creator Dan Harmon and star Chevy Chase, which centers on the actor walking off set the last day of shooting season three, a foul-mouthed speech Harmon directed at Chase, and an angry voicemail Chase left Harmon in response — which the creator played at a public event. It left Community fans feeling a bit awkward, but Harmon’s newest blog post apologizing may help sooth any worries. According to E! Online, Harmon took to his Tumblr to share these words:

” … When I’ve done something that hurts an audience, it’s always an accident. So I have to just acknowledge my mistake and apologize for it to the fans. Even the people that hate the show that are tweeting heckles at me are right, I’m a selfish baby and a rude asshole and not a person to trust with your feelings.”

It’s a lengthy explanation, which is probably best read firsthand. He doesn’t address Chase directly, but he does offer a reason for sharing the personal voicemail at an appearance in Los Angeles. “I was thinking about myself and I was thinking about making people laugh. I was airing my dirty laundry for a chuckle,” he confesses — calling it a “dumb, unclassy, inconsiderate move” on his part.
