Fetishistic, Hyperreal Paintings of Luscious Lips

Pouty, pinup-style lips enthrall French artist Hubert de Lartigue. His hyperreal paintings — which are created with an airbrush for the perfect slick, lipgloss-approved sheen — are fetishistic fantasy portraits reminiscent of vintage glamour girl photos and sexy fashion magazine spreads combined. The artist has painted the rest of his models’ bodies before, but his images of curling tongues, pearly smiles, and puckered pouts seem far more enigmatic and seductive. It’s also interesting to see how much someone’s personality rests even in the delicate lines of their mouth. We shared more of De Lartigue’s incredibly detailed and realistic portraits past the break.

Would be impressive if they were large oil paintings. I saw high school students creating hyper-realistic paintings with air-brush, while the same teacher, recognizing my talent, urged me to use the real stuff to achieve the same effect. Air brush takes less time for sure, and in ways, far less skill once one learns a few short-cuts and some simple techniques. To paint hyper-realism, "Fantastic Realism", etc., in oils, using the methods of the old Masters - THAT takes a specialized, cultured, practiced and nurtured skill and an exquisite hand-eye coordination (let alone patience!) - For example see the works of Robert Venosa (R.I.P.!) at venosa.com or his beloved at martinahoffmann.com , just to start with! (His friend, Dali, his mentors, Mati Klarwein and Ernst Fuchs are amazing as well if you want an art history lesson!) Enjoy!!

number 6 looks like a PSA warning against surgical lip enhancement.

ffs flavorwire, you post hyperrealism almost every day. Get over it.
