Just this morning, publishing house Little, Brown revealed a few more details about J.K. Rowling’s much-anticipated first non-Harry Potter book, a novel for adults. Entitled The Casual Vacancy and slated to be released on September 27th, the novel revolves around the deceptively idyllic town of Pagford when a sudden death leaves a seat open on the city council, leading to the “biggest war the town has yet seen… an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations.” It sounds a little melodramatic to us, to be honest, but we have faith in Rowling’s ability to make even the most ridiculous premise deeply fascinating. Besides, how could anything “blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising” be bad? Read the full press release here and let us know if you’re counting the days ’till September — or remaining totally skeptical — in the comments. [via Gawker]
