Chinese artist Lu Xinjian, whose ongoing project “City DNA” we first spotted over at Lost at E Minor, re-imagines cities from all over the world as abstract, almost Keith Haring-like paintings, inspired by aerial views from Google Earth and bursting with color taken from the cities’ national flags. The artworks seem almost mathematical, and they feel more like the cities they represent than we expected when we heard about the project — an effect that is hard to put a finger on but rings true nonetheless. Click through to see some of our favorite pieces from the series, and then be sure to head over to Xinjian’s website for even more.
