Gorgeous Photographs of an Inverted Night Sky

We came across the work of Korean photographer Lee Eunyeol at Colossal recently, and were thoroughly taken with both the simplicity of the idea and the effectiveness of the result. Eunyeol creates installations based around the idea of inverting the night sky — basically, he installs a heap of light globes into the ground of various natural environments and then photographs the results. Whether or not you find any profound meaning in this work — according to Colossal, Lee suggests that these images “express private spaces given by night and various emotions that are not able to be defined and described in the space” — it’s just really, really beautiful… and sometimes that’s enough, isn’t it? Let us know what you think in the comments.
