According to figures just released by Disney, The Avengers, which many people (with the notable exception of New York Times critic A.O. Scott) are calling the best Marvel movie yet, took in an estimated $18.7 million at midnight showings across the country last night. It now holds the record for the biggest superhero midnight debut of all time. Just let that sink in for a second.

If you were one of the hardcore fans who made it out to the multiplex (and to be honest, even if you didn’t), we bet that you’ll be excited to hear that Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures have teamed up with Flavorpill favorite Gallery 1988 on new Avengers-themed art show. Click through to preview a few of the highlights, pick up a print of your favorite piece here, and if you live in LA, be sure to head to the gallery’s Melrose location in person now through Sunday to see the work in person.
