Illustrator Tim O’Brien premiered this realistic drawing of Charlie Brown at the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica over the weekend. The theme of the art show was “Monsters.” O’Brien’s reasoning for choosing to draw Mr. Brown is as follows:
I looked at the list of invites and then imagined all of the usual takes on what a monster is thought to be. Perhaps some will be cute, some ugly. I went in another direction. What if I were to paint a realistic version of something usually thought of as cute and benign? For no particular reason and maybe several, I chose Charlie Brown.
With this logic – “a realistic version of something usually thought of cute and benign” – who would you draw? Calvin could be terrifying. [via /Film]
