Last Saturday Flavorpill headed down to Coney Island to check out the Village Voice’s annual Siren Festival, which was headlined by ’90s alt heroes Built to Spill. It was a long, beer-fueled day, but as the photos in our image gallery suggest, solid sets by Spank Rock, Grand Duchy, Japandroids, Future of the Left, Frightened Rabbits, Micachu & the Shapes, and The Raveonettes (who we interviewed last week) made the mild sunburn well worth it. Drop a comment if you were there too, and let us know who you think stole the show.

bear hands brought das racist up on stage near the end of their set. it was hilarious b/c no one in the audience (myself included) had any clue who these clearly trashed, mumbling, fumbling dudes were. and then we heard it, a true siren's song if there ever was one: "i'm at the pizza hut. i'm at the taco bell. i'm at the combination pizza hut and taco bell…" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQ8ViYIeH04&fe… bear hands backed them up as they (sorta) rapped.
i think most of the audience was STILL baffled, but i was rocking out. wonderful, wonderfully funny moment.
