Comedy Central Is Roasting Roseanne

Outspoken comedian Roseanne Barr is a polarizing pop culture figure, but frequent readers of Flavorwire know that we feel like the funny lady we grew up watching on TV can do no wrong — and that includes her recent, short-lived reality show Roseanne’s Nuts. With the disappointing news that Downwardly Mobile, her fall comedy pilot for NBC, isn’t getting picked up, we can all find solace in the fact that Roseanne will be returning television in the not-so-distant future — as the star of her own Comedy Central Roast on Sunday, August 12th.

“All I can say is good luck finding anything about me to make fun of,” Roseanne joked in statement. “I mean, I’ve never made a mistake or offended anyone in my life!” Meanwhile Kent Alterman, Head of Original Programming and Production at the network, seemed positively giddy in his announcement, explaining that this will be “more reminiscent of the classic roasts, where the intimacy of friends jousting with each other came through.”

Do you think that means we’ll see an appearance by John Goodman? We know that she hasn’t spoken to ex-husband Tom Arnold face-to-face in 19 years, but he has to be there too, right? If so, fingers-crossed that he tells that story about how she once stabbed him with a butcher knife over some crushed cookies so that we can finally find out what really happened! [via LaughSpin]
