Which ‘True Blood’ Character Drove Us Craziest This Week?

No TV show says summer to us more than True Blood, its Southern Gothic atmosphere and pulpy pleasures providing the perfect complement to sweaty evenings spent drinking mint juleps at home after another exhausting day in the hot sun. But while we love the people — and supernatural creatures — of Bon Temps and want them to never, ever change, we’ve noticed over the years that Sookie, Bill, and co. have a tendency to annoy the crap out of us. So, in the spirit of good-natured complaining about a show that we actually adore, every week this season we’ll be shouting out the three characters who drove us craziest, and also anointing the episode’s single most campily awesome character. Find out who made us groan this time, when all of Sookie’s suitors joined forces to sniff out Russell Edgington and Jessica gave Tara a vampire “it gets better” speech, below.

The Week’s Most Annoying Characters

1. Bill, Eric, and Alcide: All right, boys. Two of you are vampires and the other one is a werewolf and you’re all fighting over the opportunity to have an incredibly annoying girl (who does happen to be part fairy) vomit all over you in the bedroom. Isn’t it maybe time you all stop picking at each other and head to Fangtasia or some wolfish biker bar to find another woman to sink your monster teeth into?

2. Andy: “Watch that homo talk, Stackhouse” — really?

3. Terry: This is a protest vote. We don’t generally have a problem with Terry, but this PTSD/army curse story line manages to be boring, extraneous, and (to put it lightly) a bit culturally insensitive at the same time. Meanwhile, after watching him massacre a whole lot of civilians with his drugged-up army buddies, we can’t say they don’t deserve everything they’re getting.

The Week’s Most Awesome Character

Sookie: Look, we’re as surprised as you are, but Sookie actually kind of kicked ass this week (after that humiliating puking incident, that is). We enjoyed seeing her drunkenly rant about how, no matter what she does, her life will never change. Another great moment came when she called bullshit on Bill and Eric when they wanted her to stay behind while they went in search of Russell — as though her fairy powers aren’t the only way to neutralize him. And when they finally found Russell, her reaction was perfect: “Fuck you, you psychotic piece of shit.” Yup, that just about covers it.
