We’ve seen several series of underwater portraits, but LA photographer Tim Tadder creates an interesting, tension-filled dynamic in his Fish Heads images by shooting his subjects as they break the water’s surface in disorienting ways. It’s akin to something out of a sci-fi film where figures walk through an invisible portal into another world. The works also force you to imagine the goofy, weird faces you probably make while plunging into a pool. Refracted light and textures add another otherworldly element to the photos. Dive into Tadder’s underwater portraits past the break.
