In 2012, the covers of most major fashion magazines have been reduced to a formula: a glossy shot of an A-list female celebrity dressed in this season’s trendiest finery, overlaid with some eye-catching headlines that promise fashion ideas, sex advice, and fitness secrets. But go back a century or so and you’ll find women’s periodicals that feature some of the most beautiful examples of Art Deco-era design you’ll ever see. Diana Moss, of the wonderful blog Miss Moss, has scanned a selection of gorgeous — and sometimes wonderfully odd — vintage Vogue covers from 1909 through 1940. Click through for a gallery of charming examples, and visit Moss’ Flickr page to see the whole set.
